Nemanja Nikolic leaves Vidi

Our club has not offered an extension, and legendary goal scorer Nemanja Nikolic will leave the club when his contract expires on the 30th June. The number 17 shirt will be retired by Vidi.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation and thanks to Nemanja Nikolic for his historic club performance over the past 12 years!

Although we won't see Niko on the pitch in a Vidi shirt from next season, the club's management has decided to retire the iconic number 17 shirt he wore for the first time in Vidi's history, in recognition of his unparalleled contribution to the history of our club. This means that in the future no one will be allowed to wear this number in Vidi's first team," said István Sallói, the club's sporting director.

Nemanja scored 164 goals in 314 appearances in a Vidi shirt between 2010 and 2015, and again between 2020 and 2022. He was a key member of our club's first and second NB I champion winning sides in 2011 and 2015, won the league silver medal four times (2010, 2012, 2013, 2020), bronze once (2021), the Super Cup in 2011 and 2012, the League Cup in 2012, appeared in three Hungarian Cup finals (2011, 2015, 2021) and won the League Cup silver medal twice (2013, 2014). Ten years ago, in 2012, he qualified for the Europa League group stage with our team.

He has won three top scorer titles in a Vidi shirt, he scored the most goals in the NB I in 2010, 2014 and 2015, he finished second in 2012 and 2021 and third in 2013. Niko became the highest top scorer in the history of our club with 117 league goals, scoring his record 112th goal in March away at Gyirmót.

In 2013, he was invited to play for the Hungarian national football team for the first time, becoming the 43rd senior player in Vidi's history. In 2012, he finished third in the Professional Footballers' Association's (PLA) vote for the best players of the season, and was named in the team of the season in 2015.

We thank him for his time at Vidi, we will always think of him fondly and we will always be happy to welcome him to Sósto! All the goals, goalscoring titles and club trophies we scored together will remain an eternal memory!

Thank you, Niko, for the unforgettable experiences and moments together! We wish you and your family good health and continued success!
